LEAVE OF ABSENCE POLICY
Students may request a Leave of Absence (LOA) due to financial, medical, family, or other valid reasons with school approval. Requests must be made in writing with supporting documentation. In emergencies, the school may approve the LOA retroactively.
A student may take up to two LOAs, each up to 90 days, not exceeding 180 days in a 12-month period. No extra charges apply during an LOA, and the student is not considered withdrawn.
If a student does not return as scheduled, the withdrawal date will be the earlier of the return date or the date the student notifies the school. Unofficial withdrawals are reviewed every 30 days.
LOAs extend the program and contract period accordingly, with a signed contract addendum. Upon return, the student’s academic progress status remains unchanged.
ATTENDANCE AND TARDY POLICY
Students must clock in/out daily to receive credit. A minimum 68% attendance rate is required for satisfactory progress. Hours are rounded to the nearest quarter hour and capped at:
- Aesthetics (600 hrs): 7 hrs/day, 35 hrs/week
- Nail (100 hrs): 6.5 hrs/day, 25 hrs/week
Tardiness results in loss of hours not attended. Absences must be reported by phone or written note, with valid reasons such as illness (with doctor’s note), family emergency, or unforeseen circumstances.
Excessive absences may require a meeting with administration. Students absent for 15+ days without an approved LOA or valid excuse will be terminated and refunded per policy.
MAKE-UP HOURS POLICY AND PROCEDURE
Students who miss a theory test must complete it upon return. Missed assignments will be given by the instructor. Missed practical work may require practice on a mannequin. Students may need to attend a future class for credit.
Make-up hours are allowed to meet satisfactory progress but must stay within daily/weekly hour limits unless approved by an instructor.
There is no charge for make-up hours.
